Milk is Not Good for us, Know why

For decades, milk has been considered the go-to source for calcium. No wonder we feel pressured to incorporate milk into our everyday food habits. But the truth is, milk does more harm to our bodies than good. Thanks to the massive dairy industries that have kept us away from this much-needed truth. In India, where the cow is considered as a holy animal, it’s crucial to understand why cow milk is not the right thing for us.

If you actively consume milk, curd, yogurt, or cheese, you are most likely to become the host for many future diseases. There could be countless reasons why milk is harmful to us. Let us take a look at ten such reasons.

  1. Difficult to Digest

Animal milk, especially cows’, contains a large amount of lactose. Not only many people can be intolerant of lactose, but it can also be difficult to digest. Animal milk further leads to many digestive problems like nausea, cramps, bloating, gas, and diarrhoea.

  1. Weakens Bones

This might come as a surprise for many people. But contrary to popular speculations, animal milk actually detracts calcium from our bones.

If we drink one glass of milk, it provides us both protein and calcium. Animal gained proteins produce acids in our bodies. To break down this acid, our bodies use stored calcium, which is more than what we get through a single glass of milk. Therefore, altogether a single glass of milk leaches out more calcium from our bones than it gives.

That is why animal milk weakens our bones and increases the chances of fractures. Refer to this blog for more information.

  1. High in Cholesterol

Animal milk is high in cholesterol and contains as much as 24 mg of harmful cholesterol per serving. This can lead to many heart-related issues in older age. On the other hand, no plant-based milk contains any harmful cholesterol whatsoever.

  1. Causes major Food Allergies

Animal milk is best suited for their babies only. Like in cows, their milk is practically made for calves who have four stomachs and can weigh over 1000 pounds at 2 years old.

Animal milk is one of the primary causes of food allergies in children. Many infants can also develop digestive problems due to animal milk.

  1. Contains Saturated fats

A single serving of animal milk contains over 20% of the suggested allowance of saturated fats. The more milk you consume per day, the more saturated fats are getting into your body.

Too much saturated fats can hike the LDL (Low-Density Lipoproteins) cholesterol, which is the primary reason for heart diseases and stroke.

  1. Triggers Skin Problems

Animal milk contains proteins like whey and casein. These types of proteins release hormones similar to insulin called IGF-1. This hormone can trigger breakouts and make your skin acne-prone.

If you are lactose intolerant, your acne and regular breakouts could be due to lactose sensitivity and allergic reaction.

  1. Filthy practices towards animals

This fact is no longer hidden from the world. Dairy manufacturers keep animals in a filthy environment, regularly feed them various drugs, and torture them every single day for milk.

Most importantly, use common sense. No species drink milk beyond their infancy except us. Animal milk is suited for the needs of their babies and not us. Consuming anything that is not naturally produced for humans will lead to many health-related problems. It’s best to switch to plant-based milk and respect animals and their bodies. This will keep us and the surrounding in sync with nature.
